CASH/ FOOD SECURITY & LIVELIHOOD COORDINATOR

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role holder will support Christian Aid’s response to the humanitarian crisis in Nigeria with special focuses on the cash/food security and livelihood sector interventions. She/he will support Christian Aid’s funded programmes which are implemented by Christian Aid and it partners in Borno and other northeast states. The role holder will assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of Christian Aid’s cash/food security and livelihood humanitarian response, providing effective and timely support (including capacity building) to liberated communities and partner organizations, enabling them to implement the rapid, effective and principled Cash/FSL response to emergencies, and ensuring that this is in line with Christian Aid’s country strategy and Humanitarian Standards. The role holder will be representing Christian Aid in sector working groups meetings/activities and engage in the right networks, while increasing the profile of Christian Aid Humanitarian and resilience work and its visibility in the region.

ABOUT YOU
The post holder should have a first degree in social sciences or BSC in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, plant science, environmental science, rural development, nutrition, public health and any other related fields with at least 4-5 years’ experience of working in humanitarian response with local and/international partner organizations.
She/he should possess strong positive attitude and ability to manage a wide range of issues of complicated procedures, indicated by 4-5 years learning period.
At least a three years humanitarian response experience in food security and livelihood, cash transfers programming is desirable. She/he should be familiar with Cash /Food security context of Northeast Nigeria.
Ability to communicate fluently in Hausa and English language is essential.

PROGRAMME OFFICER - CONFLICT AND PEACE BUILDING

ABOUT THE ROLE

The post holder will be responsible for supporting and managing Christian Aid partnerships and programmes with support from the Programme Manager Governance. The role will coordinate the effective disbursement of funds to Christian Aid partners working on the programmatic areas of governance, gender & inclusion and conflict sensitivity. The post holder will contribute to the implementation of Christian Aid Tackling Violence Building Peace strategy while supporting the team on concrete steps in the implementation of the strategy within the wider country programmes. The position will contribute to the representation and brand of Christian Aid in country, engage with and promote communications and fundraising, including institutional donors. The role holder will work directly with partners, conduct technical trainings on conflict analysis, sensitivity, and do no harm, peace building, Participatory Vulnerability Capacity Assessments and protection monitoring. The role will be responsible for strategic planning and will identify new opportunities. Furthermore, the role is expected to build relationship and work closely with external stakeholders including government and donors and to proactively engage with networks and learning groups.

ABOUT YOU
You are required to have a degree in any of the Social Sciences with at least 3 years progressive experience in implementing gender programmes.
Knowledge of political and religious context, especially around peace building and conflict in Northern Nigeria is vital for this role.
You should understand advocacy, campaigning, lobbying and network building.
You should have good facilitation skills and experience of developing partner capacity.
You must understand gender and other forms of exclusion. Fluency in Hausa language is an added advantage.
